Greetings Easton Citizen,
This is an ideas development project, run by Firstborn Creatives in partnership
with Knowle
West Media Centre and
Calling the Shots.
The theme of the project is "Passport to....", inspired by the 1949 Ealing comedy, 'Passport to Pimlico'. In this film the London borough of Pimlico is revealed to be an independent state, after an ancient document is discovered that proves it to be foreign territory.
We will be running workshops with groups in Easton, Bristol based on the central question:
"How would you like to see things if Easton
became an independent state?"
Come along to the first session at Easton Community
Centre on June 27th at 7.15pm, to find out how you can get involved. ALL AGES
ARE WELCOME!
We will be running 5 sessions with a number of groups before the summer holidays,
and then another 5 to be run before December with the same groups, after exchanging
ideas with Knowle West and Calling The Shots.
The project is to look for ways of working with the many voices and creative
people of Easton and Knowle West, to develop workable ideas into a mainstream
media production.
Join in the chat forum and give your opinions.
- What about education, jobs, faith and religion, crime
and punishment, youth, elders?
- What about your currency, your immigration or even
emmigration policy?
- What about culture, arts and creativity, censorship?
- Will Easton have a leader or will in be a co-operative?
- How will decisions be made?
So what do you say?
You can also email us at; indy_easton@yahoo.co.uk
Will be great meeting with you, fellow Citizen!

I'd like to see Easton manage itself, not as a 'state', but as a community of all the people that lived there. Anyone would be free to leave or enter, and the community would decide who got kicked out (or 'sent to Clifton' - I like that idea!). We could make our own stuff, set our own rules and sort out our own problems. It happens in other parts of the world, and has happened here in the past, so why couldnt it happen here and now? | From: Lucky | i want 2 c more swimming pools a massive
shopping centre where everything is free a
special sports court and a free jaccuzi for every house! | From: daz | We invest our ...err. Eastonians into renewable, sustainable energy. Wha dya say water-powered cars for inter-state transport. Can't bike to the Queens Head? Solar powered skate-board suit your fancy?
And then something to power the jacuzzis.. | From: Power Mad | I vote no cars within the state boundry, litter droppers will be forced to plant flowers publicly, spitting will be prohibited and HUGE fines imposed and then spat on....drug dealers will be drummed out of existence, prostitutes will be nurtured back to health, cultures and faiths will be forced to be tolerent of each other...shall I go on or do you want to move NOW | From: martin | ...go on martin... | From: Speaker of the House | Martin, who died and left you in charge? It seems you want a dictatorship rather than a democracy. What are your credentials if you're putting yourself forward for President? | From: AM | make sure all you funy named people come to easton community centre for launch of this project at 7.15 on the 27th june... | From: lou | No one died as far as I know yet but Easton is so in need of repair that maybe a few fatalities are inevitable. On a more serious note when are Eastolians going to start to take pride in their neighborhood it is an ugly tip. Martin for President, tough action needed | From: Tonker | I just like to see Easton, come a happy place tp live without the press telling us it is not | From: jim | We need to declare ownership of all the green space left before the council sells it all to private developers who build flats. Lawrence hill is one of the most deprived wards and most unhealthy places to live. We want a community garden on a piece of green space for all to enjoy. Today i found out this is to be sold to developers. Anyone fancy a sit down protest | From: Ros |
